29/12/2023: On request of REAP, Dr. Qasim Kakar, Director Quarantine / Admin, Department of Plant Protection (DPP) arranged a meeting with REAP Delegation led by Mr. Chela Ram Kewlani, Chairman REAP at DPP Head Office, Karachi to discuss problems being faced by Rice Exporters regarding inspection of rice shipments and issuance of Phytosanitary Certificates. REAP team was comprised of Mr. Chela Ram Kewlani, Chairman REAP, Mr. Safder Hussain Mehkri, Ex-Chairman REAP, MC Members REAP, Mr. Fuad Hamid Garib, Mr. Deepak Kumar, Mr. Muhammad Noman, Ex-MC Member REAP, Mr. Shahid Tawawalla and Altaf Hussain Shaikh, Secretary REAP. Whereas Mr. Haseeb Ali Khan, Senior Vice Chairman REAP, MC Members REAP, Ch. Sameeullah Naeem, Mr. Ali Narang joined the said meeting via Zoom video link. Dr. Qasim Kakar keenly listened to issues of Rice Exporters and assured his full cooperation to resolve the same for the betterment of Rice Export Trade. However, he suggested to hold a meeting of REAP and Fumigators team at DPP to sort out the issues.
